Scholarship for short-term mobility to the United Kingdom awarded to PhD candidate Ms. Vasiliki Engeli

Ms. Vasiliki Engeli, PhD candidate in the Department of Hygiene, Epidemiology and Medical Statistics (DHEMS), School of Medicine, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA), has been awarded a short-term scholarship in the framework of the Program “Greek-British Cooperation on Short-term Scholarships-4th Cycle”. The program is organized by the State Scholarships Foundation (IKY), the British Embassy in Athens and the British Council of Greece and promotes the mobility of postgraduate and doctoral students of Greek Universities to British Universities, in the framework of the collaboration between the Hellenic Republic and the United Kingdom.
Ms. Engeli has earned an MSc in Biostatistics from NKUA. Her doctoral research focuses on mathematical modelling for the study of infectious diseases using social contact data and it is supervised by Professor Vana Sypsa.
In the context of the short-term mobility scholarship, Ms. Engeli will visit the Department of Infectious Disease Epidemiology, School of Public Health, Imperial College London, which is one of the largest academic departments specialising in infectious disease epidemiology in Europe.
