Prof. Anastasia Kotanidou receives the “Dimitrios Trichopoulos Award of Exceptional Service to NKUA, Medicine and the Society”


The ceremony of the Annual Faculty Awards of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA) took place at the NKUA Aula Magna on Tuesday, April 8 2025.
Following a unanimous decision by the NKUA Senate, the Award for Exceptional Service to NKUA and the Society to be presented to faculty of the School of Medicine was named the “Dimitrios Trichopoulos Award of Exceptional Service to NKUA, Medicine and the Society”. The name of the award holds special significance for the Department of Hygiene, Epidemiology & Medical Statistics, in which Prof. Trichopoulos served as Chair for several decades.
For the academic year 2023-2024, and for the first time after its establishment, the award was presented to Dr. Anastasia Kotanidou, Prof. of Intensive Care Medicine. Prof. Kotanidou serves for more than 30 years in the 1st Department of Intensive Care Medicine of the NKUA School of Medicine and has excelled in medicine, academic teaching and social engagement. She received the award in recognition of her contribution to the medical care of critically ill patients, her excellence in training medical students and ICU residents, as well as her major contributions to society.
