The Department’s research activities cover a broad spectrum within the field of Public Health. Its research expands on the epidemiology and prevention of infectious and chronic diseases, nutritional epidemiology, the epidemiology and prevention of accidents and violence, as well as occupational diseases, environmental epidemiology, molecular and genetic epidemiology, health education, health services evaluation, determinants of physical injuries, management of high-risk health behaviors, development and application of biostatistical and bioinformatics methodologies, and other related areas.
The Department designs and conducts epidemiological, experimental and observational, studies and programs. It also participates in research initiatives in collaboration with other academic institutions, research centers, and public or private organizations in Greece and abroad.
