Ioannis Bellos is a graduate of the Medical School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA). He holds a Master’s degree in Epidemiology and Research Methodology from the Medical School of NKUA and a PhD from the Department of Hygiene, Epidemiology and Medical Statistics of the same institution, with a research focus on the prevention of cardiovascular disease in patients with chronic kidney disease. He is a board-certified Nephrologist, having completed his specialty training at Laiko General Hospital of Athens.

He actively contributes to teaching in the undergraduate courses “Epidemiology and Research Methodology” and “Preventive Medicine and Public Health,” as well as in the postgraduate program “Epidemiology – Research Methodology in biomedical sciences, clinical practice and public health” at the School of Medicine of NKUA.

He has an extensive authorship and editorial record in international peer-reviewed journals. As of December 2025, he has co-authored 108 scientific publications indexed in Scopus, while Google Scholar reports 2,980 citations with an h-index of 32. His research interests focus on research methodology, evidence synthesis and meta-analysis, clinical epidemiology, and the study and management of kidney diseases.
