Penny Panagiotopoulou is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Education and Social Work at the University of Patras. She is a social psychologist who earned her degrees in Psychology and Greek Literature and Psychology from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, and a PhD in Social and Cross-Cultural Psychology. Her doctoral research examined the structure of self-concept across three nations. She is a member of the International Association for Cross-Cultural Psychology and serves as the elected Secretary General of the Hellenic Psychological Society. Her primary research interests and quantitative studies lie within Social and Cross-Cultural Psychology, focusing on values, social axioms, self-concept, subjective well-being, family structure and function, and ethnic identity. Her work has been published in both Greek and international journals within these fields. Dr. Panagiotopoulou has contributed to major cross-cultural research projects on social axioms and cultural tightness–looseness. She has also being serving as an invited lecturer in postgraduate programs at the School of Medicine and the School of Philosophy at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. Her teaching experience includes undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Social Psychology, Cross-Cultural Psychology, and Applied Social and Cross-Cultural Psychology. Specific courses she has taught include Introduction to Social Psychology, Introduction to Cross-Cultural Psychology, Applied Social Psychology in Communication, Emotion, and Behavior, Personality and Self, and Personality. At the postgraduate level, both at her home department and as a guest lecturer at the University of Athens, she teaches Psychological Dimensions of Inequality and Otherness, Socio-Cognitive Processes of Learning, and Social Psychology. She has authored or co-authored approximately 50 publications, which have collectively received 4,814 citations.
