Elena Tsompanaki is a registered dietitian in both Greece and the United Kingdom. She completed her undergraduate studies in Nutrition and Dietetics at Harokopio University (2014), and her postgraduate studies in Clinical and Public Health Nutrition at University College London (2015). She completed her DPhil (PhD) in Primary Care at the Department of Primary Care Health Sciences of the University of Oxford (2025), and she was awarded the 2021 Novo Nordisk Research Foundation Fellowship in Clinical Diabetes. Previously, she worked for five years as a Senior Specialist Dietitian in various NHS hospitals in London (Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, Royal Brompton and Harefield NHS Foundation Trust), in both clinical and research roles. During this time, she worked as a member of several multidisciplinary clinical teams and played an active role in the training of student dietitians during their clinical placements.
She currently works as a Nutrition and Public Health Consultant at UNICEF Greece and as a scientific associate in the department, in the project of updating the national dietary guidelines. Her teaching activities include delivering practical tutorials in nutritional epidemiology for the English-language Medical Programme of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.
