
Evangelia (Evi) Samoli is Professor of Epidemiology and Medical statistics at the Medical School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Greece. She graduated from the School of Mathematics at the NKUA, received a M.Sc. in Social Statistics from the University of Southampton, United Kingdom, and her Ph.D. in Epidemiology from the Medical School of the University of Athens. She teaches Biostatistics and Epidemiology in under or post graduate courses, while she has organized various short courses on Biostatistics and Environmental Epidemiology. She was the co-chair of the 34th Annual conference of the International Society of Environmental Epidemiology in 2022 in Athens. Her research interests include environmental epidemiology that focuses on the health effects of air pollution, statistical methods for the analysis of time-series and longitudinal data in environmental epidemiology, and cancer epidemiology that focuses on the investigation of risk factors for developing cancer. She has published more than 170 peer-reviewed articles in international journals with over 10,000 citations, while she has participated in more than 60 international conferences with various announcements. Samoli has been a member of committees for the World Health Organization, the European Commission, and US Health Effects Institute. She is a member of Greek and international scientific societies that are active in environmental epidemiology issues and currently a member of the HEI Research Committee.
