Communication and Dissemination of Medical Research Information
Learning objectives
Upon successful completion of the course the post-graduate students are expected to be able to:
- apply basic knowledge in writing a press-release and disseminating information to the general public
- prepare appropriately for interviewing when apply for a job or fro receiving funding
- prepare for the presentation of a research study
- be familiar with the main features of social media and dissemination of information through digital media
- describe the basic structure of a research article
- prepare and present a research study
Course content
The course introduces students to concepts related to the dissemination of information and the principles of communicating science. The following topics are covered:
- Press release: Technical approach
- Interviews for work and funding
- Presentation of medical study
- Practical analysis 1: Science Bloggers
- Practical analysis 2: Writing an article
- Presentation of a research paper
- Social Media
- Infodemic: Examples from the COVID-19 pandemic
- Public health messages
- Practical analysis 3: Press releases
The teaching methods include lectures and presentations prepared by the students.
